November 1

November

A driving rain came last evening and spoiled things for the trick-or-treaters, though at least it was a warm front where temperatures rose through the night.

By morning, the light revealed that the remaining leaves had come down with the deluge, and the gloomy start cast everything in a muted fog. In the large puddles in the driveway, leaves floated on the surface, spinning slowly about in the wind.

November it seems wants to arrive all of a sudden, stealing the last of autumn’s colors from the limbs and dashing them about on the ground. The only consolation is the strangely warm wind, which is reminiscent of an April front, where the Earthy smells percolate and excite us toward spring.
