Yesterday’s
peaceful snow is a reminder of the calm and beauty that often accompanies
winter here. It allows us to accept the transition more gracefully, to
acknowledge that the work and leisure of our autumn pursuits have indeed come
to an end, and yet to see that there is still a landscape of beauty just beyond
the window.
We are
near the start of the long rest now, where the days of readiness and growth,
production and harvest are all only memories of accomplishments. The gentle
snow of yesterday is a newly lain blanket upon this Paxton ground, coming like
a welcome sigh to usher in this time before the cycle begins anew.
