A calm
snow last evening created a fluffy coating on the upper side of every tree
branch in the woods, making them stand out as if highlighted.
In the
morning daylight, little red made his way from his winter nest in the barn to
our dooryard feeders, and I caught sight of him initially as he navigated the
aerial highways of criss-crossing branches. As he sped along, seemingly
unaffected by the powder of snow along his way, bits would become dislodged in
his passing and fall gently as crystalline clouds to the ground below.
All
this was backlit by the rising sun through the woods making the light refracted
slightly within each falling powder so that small rainbows were created briefly
within.
